1990
BORN IN CAPE TOWN,

STARTED RACING MOTOCROSS

1999
Stefan's journey with 2 wheels began. He raced motocross competitively at regional and national level from 1999 to 2009 securing a few championships along the way.
2009
TOOK A GAP YEAR
After finishing school in 2008 Stefan stopped racing motocross and left home to spend a year in the UK. During this time he was introduced to mountainbiking and started racing 4X


2010
STARTED DOWNHILL
After returning home to South Africa Stefan made the switch to Downhill Mountainbiking and BMX racing as there was no 4X in the country at the time. The plan was to study architecture in 2011.

2011
After some good results in SA in 2010 Stefan changed his plans and committed himself to making it as a professional on the World Cup Circuit. The first year he lived with fellow racer, Johann Potgieter in this van for 5 months
VAN LIFE
2015

FIRST NATIONAL TITLE
After 4 years of building momentum Stefan was able to win his first national championship. He would back this up again in 2016 along with his first International IXS Cup race win in Germany.
2017

THE BEST YEAR
2017 was the best overall year for Stefan. He went on to win another IXS Cup and become a regular on the world cup circuit. He qualified for all but 1 final that year and achieved his best result in Italy with 21st place.
THE BROKEN HIPS
2018 and 2019 were the toughest 2 years for Stef as he sustained 2 brutal injuries breaking and dislocating both right and left hips 11 months apart. This meant almost 2 complete years out of action which was followed by the covid year in 2020.
